It's been a busy news week for students and graduates of Edinburgh College Photography. BA Professional Photography graduate Jolanta Pakla-Plebankiewicz has been selected by Stills New Foto emerging new talent exhibition.

New Foto is an exhibition that has been developed for the gallery at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by Tonic Arts – NHS Lothian Charity in partnership with Stills: Centre for Photography, Edinburgh.

The aim of New Foto is to not only showcase new talent in photography emerging from universities and colleges but also to enhance the hospital environment. Through the power of art, Tonic Arts, create welcoming, nurturing and stimulating space for patients, staff and visitors alike. By enriching their experiences, arts help alleviate stress and reduce feelings of isolation, while simultaneously boosting confidence and supporting positive clinical outcomes.

Stills is one of the longest established public photography venues in the UK. Situated in the heart of Edinburgh, our gallery and photography production facilities are open to everyone all year round. With this new partnership between Tonic Arts and Stills, we aim to offer new and continued support for graduates in photography when they are in the transition year after graduation.

Jolanta is one of two of the graduates have been selected for Tonic Arts Awards where their work has been purchased by the Tonic Arts collection, further emphasising the profound impact of art in the healthcare setting.

Her Major Project (all 16 images) were selected in the finals by the Association of Photographers (AOP) and were exhibited at Free Range shows, Truman Brewery, London. All awarded photographers will feature in the AOP Awards book due to be published in September.
