'Projects 18' is a series of four exhibitions, providing a platform for new photographic talent in Scotland supported by Stills Centre for Photography, Edinburgh.

'Basement Series' is the current exhibition on from 25th May - 3rd June, a personal project by Kevin McCollum.

Kevin's photographic education started at Edinburgh's Telford College, moving to Stevenson College (both now Edinburgh College) and finally graduating from Napier University BA Photography and Film.

This latest series of work has been produced between 2016-2018 which evolved out of commissioned work documenting large scale city centre developments in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

"The project is a personal study of repetition that involves quiet moments of chance alongside observations of details and shapes".

The work on show is excellent, full of abstract views, light, shade and texture which are expertly composed to form photographic images which reminded me of Mark Rothko with a hint of Francis Bacon. The prints are excellent, large scale on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper. Kevin worked closely with 'Deadly Digital' testing a few options before the final print run. You know when its a great exhibition when you want to take a couple home and hang them on the wall.

Definitely go see.
