Edinburgh College Photography Students Shine at AOP Student Awards 2025

Edinburgh College photography students have achieved unprecedented success at the Association of Photographers (AOP) Student Awards 2025, securing two Gold awards and one Silver award. This remarkable haul marks the college's best-ever performance in the history of the prestigious AOP Awards.

Ritchie Elder, a BA (Hons) Professional Photography student, not only clinched Gold in the highly competitive 'People' category but also received the coveted Best in Show award. Ritchie had an impressive five nominations in total.

Joining him in the 'People' category, Flavia Lo Tempio, an HND Professional Photography student, was awarded Silver, further solidifying Edinburgh College's dominance.

Adding to the college's exceptional success, Ewelina Rys, also an HND Professional Photography student, secured a Gold award in the 'Things' category.

Out of forty-one student finalists from across the UK, an impressive nine were from Edinburgh College, highlighting the exceptional talent fostered within its photography program. The college expressed immense pride in the students' achievements, celebrating this brilliant end to the academic year.

My gold selection and the Best in Show winner excelled in everything I was looking for, they both worked on all levels in lighting, composition, creating beautiful images in which you could connect with the subject and their story.
