Tobias Delcroix - Guest Lecture
We were delighted to see Tobias Delacroix back on campus today. Tobias is a recent graduate of the BA Professional Photography course (2020) and has been working with amazing clients in the fashion industry. Despite graduating and immediately facing the COVID lockdown restrictions, Tobias built up a thriving fashion photography business working with Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Grazia, Wonderland, GQ, Net-A-Porter to name a few.
He started early in his third year at college collaborating with Chanel Beauty SS20 which was featured in Vogue and his first commission for Toni & Guy. He has learnt a lot along the way and was happy to share his experiences with our students. Tobias's presentation was about 'The Business of Fashion & Beauty Photography, covering his ethos, finding your voice, marketing your work, how to plan production, working with a team and importantly how to charge and invoice.
Tobias set out his path to finding 'your niche', the use of research to find what you have a passion for and what you don't. He continued with how to network with potential clients, creating proposals, mood boards, licensing and syndication and how to market your work climbing the editorial ladder.
